Had an amazing opportunity to visit the centre while I was at the Christmas bazaar with my business ~Bella Soul Designs~. There is lots to do for Little ones and family members. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. The RMS Segwun was a highlight of the trip. We also enjoyed the model train display and the interactive exhibits. Overall, a great experience!

Took my 6 year old for something to do on a cold day -the kids section is good and kept her busy ( and worth $10 ) but paying $25 plus tax for adult (total of $40) for adult admission if you are with your kids and not actually seeing the adult section is not worth it .

Had an amazing opportunity to visit the center while I was at the Christmas bazaar with my business ~Bella Soul Designs~. There is lots to do for Little ones and family members. The staff is nice and the store front is something to stop and see. There are lots of beautiful art pieces on the wall to see.

This museum has a fascinating Indigenous gallery and a great section showcasing historic watercraft. But what our kids enjoyed the most was definitely the KidZone area! We couldn’t stay very long due to other plans during the day, but if we had known how much fun it would be, we would have set aside a few hours just to let the kids play and explore.

This is a place where you can get a lot of knowledge about the history of steamships. It has many engines on display, a Separate part for vintage racing boats and many more items on display. Also so many activities for kids and you might need aboit at least 2 hours to explore it. We did not have much time and ended up rushing through it. There is a discount if you have purchased tickets for the tour in the steamship. Wonderful experience.

This place is a hidden gem for kids. The inside is bigger than it looks from outside. It’s basically a boat themed children’s museum but with some decent displays for adult boat lovers too. The activities for kids are plentiful and that’s not even taking into account of the kids play area on the second floor.

My father was a summer visitor to his aunt's cottage as a kid over a hundred years ago and was always massively interested in Muskoka all his life at that same cottage. I remember running to the rocks to see the SEGUIN and SAGAMO passing the cottage, belching smokestacks through the Indian River to and from Port Carling on the "Hundred Mile Cruise". This museum brought it all back.
I only had a superficial knowledge of the Muskoka area but visiting the MDC over the years I have learned so much more.
This should be a "must stop" for not only visitors but also residents as well. The new(er) "MISKO-AKI (Red Earth) Confluence of Cultures" is massively informative with so many beautiful exhibits and artifacts. It alone is worth a few hours.
Needless to say the crowning jewels are the magnificent and historic Muskoka boats in the boathouse. Absolutely breathtaking in their majesty and astonishing refurbishments and maintenance.

Have brought the kids here to play in the upper kids discovery room. There are plenty of toys perfect for toddlers and young children. Sandbox, colouring, Lego, etc. Great option to kill time on a rainy day when up north.
